The SumFun idea
Maths becomes much easier when equations stop looking like arbitrary rules. At SumFun, concepts are broken down from first principles, connected to diagrams and examples, and rebuilt step by step until they make sense.
01
Use diagrams, graphs and visual explanations to make abstract ideas concrete.
02
Build concepts logically instead of memorising unexplained procedures.
03
Practise until the learner can independently apply the idea to unfamiliar problems.
See how we teach
Some ideas are easier to understand when you can actually see them happen. SumFun uses visual explanations, animations and carefully constructed examples to reveal the reasoning hidden behind equations.
This is not just content. It is how we teach.
Follow SumFun Academy for quick visual breakdowns between lessons.
Personal tutoring
Every learner brings a different mix of strengths, gaps and goals. One-on-one lessons adapt to the person in front of us—not a rigid script.
Identify the small misunderstandings that cause bigger problems later.
Work directly with what the learner is currently doing in class.
Practise the reasoning and problem-solving needed under assessment conditions.
Help learners become comfortable attempting problems independently.

A learner's progress
One SumFun learner progressed from marks in the 30% range to marks in the 70% range with consistent tutoring and practice.
Every learner progresses differently. SumFun focuses on building the understanding and habits that make improvement possible.

About the tutor
I'm Tshepang Matiting, the founder and tutor behind SumFun Academy.
My academic background combines mathematics, aerodynamics and mechanical engineering. I hold a BMil Technology degree from Stellenbosch University's Military Academy, where my studies focused on Aerodynamics and Mathematics. I am currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Johannesburg.
That background has taught me that mathematics is not simply a collection of rules. It is a way of understanding how real systems move, change and behave.
At SumFun, I bring that same thinking into every lesson. I prepare around the learner's current schoolwork, identify the gaps underneath the immediate problem, and use diagrams, examples and carefully chosen practice to rebuild understanding.
Parents can expect structured lessons, honest feedback and a tutor who takes their child's progress seriously.
The goal is not to make learners dependent on tutoring. It is to help them become confident enough to approach unfamiliar problems on their own.
How it works
Tell SumFun the learner's grade, current challenges and goals.
Lessons focus on current needs while identifying underlying gaps.
Use regular lessons and practice to progressively improve understanding and confidence.
Ready when you are
Whether the goal is catching up, preparing for a test or pushing toward higher marks, let's figure out where the learner is and start from there.
